The INPAVITE Assessment Test
Am I abusive or violent towards my partner? If you have to ask yourself that question, the answer is, more than likely, yes.
The Assessment Test is specifically designed for MEN AND WOMEN who feel, they may be using abuse, in an intimate relationship.
It is a useful tool for PROFESSIONALS whose clients may be using abuse towards an intimate partner
WHY CHOOSE THIS COURSE?
Living in a society where power and control is used to preserve order - it is no surprise that power and control raises its head in our most intimate of relationships, to settle conflicts.
In a good relationship, we enjoy our partner's uniqueness and differences. However, in an abusive relationship, instead of these differences opening up possibilities for a new way of being or understanding the world, they open up fears, vulnerabilities and anger.
Using surveys, a quiz and questionnaires this Assessment Test takes a look at intimate partner abuse, offering students the opportunity to:
- clarify their understanding of intimate partner abuse,
- explore its links to learnt behaviour,
- test whether or not abuse is taking place in their own relationship; and
- understand how emotional intelligence can promote the development of empathy, congruency and unconditional caring for others (traits missing in abusive relationships).
The INPAVITE Assessment Test is a unique online provision for anyone wanting to end abusive behaviour in a relationship or for professionals to refer clients for educational and preventative measures.

The Test and Course
On offer at INPAVITE is a no nonsense approach to the subject of intimate partner abuse. The assessment and courses can help you take steps towards a more respectful relationship. Education is power... right! So by educating you, this course places power in your hands, for you to make changes you need to your relationship - it's as simple as that.
INPAVITE courses are educational and work from a person centred perspective to give you a personal experience and fuller understanding of what may be happening in your unique relationship. You will learn about intimate partner abuse, power and control, the tactics that underpin this form of abuse and how to end it. It is also important to look at how this form of abuse affects your partner and possibly other people in your life (e.g. children). And don't forget, anyone using abuse in their relationship will also be affected by their own behaviour. No one involved escapes the effects of abuse.
INPAVITE also has a website with information, advice and a discussion forum (see link at the top of this page). Become a member and join in discussions about intimate partner abuse? Feedback from students continually help with the development of new courses, ensuring INPAVITE provides a useful resource for people who may be abusing a partner.
The good news is that abusive behaviour is learnt. So if we can learn to be abusive, we can develop new skills and 'unlearn the behaviours'... right!
Here's the thing, if you come to understand that you are being abusive in a relationship, then you need to want to change. No one can make the change for you. You will need to treat this course with the utmost honesty when you answer the questions or you will only be wasting an opportunity to explore and avoid abuse in your relationship.
That said, you wouldn't have read this far if you weren't serious about wanting to understand your relationship, right? So let's begin the journey.
